A little care. A longer journey.

Your bike’s own manual is the starting point. These habits help you look after the battery safely.

Use the correct charger.

Use the battery and charger specified for the exact bike. A connector that fits does not prove compatibility. Avoid damaged or unverified replacement batteries and chargers.

Charge where you can keep an eye on it.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Avoid charging while asleep or away, and keep batteries and chargers away from escape routes and combustible materials. Do not cover the charger or battery.

Stop if something changes.

Unusual heat, swelling, smell, leaking or damage needs attention. Stop using the equipment and seek qualified advice. Do not attempt to repair the cells yourself. In an emergency, move to safety and contact emergency services.

Store it with care.

Check the manual for storage temperatures, charge levels and long-term storage guidance. Let a battery reach the recommended temperature before charging after very hot or cold conditions.

Further guidance: Government battery safety guidance.

Make it your journey.
