Your first e-bike. A good place to begin.
The right electric bike starts with your life, not the longest specification sheet.

Start with your everyday.
Think about the journeys you actually make. A city bike can suit commuting and errands; a folding bike can help when storage or a mixed journey matters. Write down your usual distance, the hills on your route and where the bike will live.
Fit comes first.
Rider height, frame shape and riding position matter. A low step-through frame may make getting on easier. If you need to carry the bike upstairs, compare its actual weight with the battery fitted. Ask for model-specific fit guidance and, where possible, try a bike before buying.
Look beyond the biggest range number.
Advertised range depends on assistance level, rider weight, terrain, temperature and test conditions. Battery capacity in watt-hours is useful for comparison, but it does not guarantee a distance. Plan a comfortable margin for your real route.
Know the exact UK specification.
For normal EAPC use in Great Britain, the bike needs working pedals, a maximum continuous rated motor power of 250W and assistance that cuts off at 15.5mph. Throttle and approval requirements also matter. Peak power is different from continuous power; get the exact configuration confirmed.
Think about life after delivery.
Check assembly, the warranty route, replacement parts, a practical return address and delivery timing. A good bike is easier to enjoy when the support behind it is clear.
Check current UK electric bike rules and the exact model specification.
Make it your journey.
